You can even find bargain hotels in the D.C. area and take a train into the city for the traveler on a budget.
2. Saqqara, Egypt - Cairo? Please. This destination is less cramped with visitors and vendors. Open space and greenery give it that thousands of years old ambience -- even in 2009. ** Want to make sure you cell phone stays your own when you travel? Check out the security phone purse. It also carries your cash, ID, credit cards and more for those times when you don't want to lug a daypack around.**
3. Lassen Volcanic National Park, California - Swimming, boating, fishing, 150 miles of hiking trails -- the perfect opportunity to get connected with nature. Even in high season, it's unlikely you would pay more than $100 for accommodations.
4. Istanbul, Turkey - Sushi and boutique hotels? You can find it in Istanbul. Everything for the lover of arts and culture.
5. Belfast, Northern Ireland - The best in Irish music and bars. The strife and checkpoints, which existed a decade ago are replaced by high-class accommodations and a happening tourist scene.
