If you’re like many parents, you’re struggling with ideas of what to get your kids this year for the holidays. Yes, you anticipate taking them to shop for clothes that they want, but you also want to give them something they will need. If you have any kids in college, there are always things you can get to help make their dorms feel a little more like home. Check out these college dorm survival kit ideas.
Bed and Bath. Give your college student something that will help to transform their impersonal dorm room. For a female, a blanket with initials monogrammed on it or a shower caddy full of her favorite toiletries and a new pair of rubber flip-flops are both ideas. Other options include purchasing an oversized pillowcase and filling it with a rug to put beside the bed, a reading lamp, a sleeping mask for blocking light while a roommate is studying late, or a pair of pajama pants for lounging.
Studying. When the library shuts down, it’s important that your college student be able to focus in the dorm. Consider stuffing his or her stocking with noise-cancelling headphones, a CD of classical music or even nature sounds that can act as white noise, an energy drink, or even a gift certificate for ordering pizza on those late nights studying. A mini voice recorder for making oral notes, highlighters, or even sticky note tabs all make great stocking stuffers.
Entertainment. A dart board and darts, a deck of cards, or the game of Twister are all great ways your college student can entertain his- or herself in the dorm room while making new friends. Consider getting a subscription for a movie rental service, either on- or offline, a few new DVDs, or even a few bags of his or her favorite popcorn.
