Tips for traveling with evening wear

Whether you're trying to pack your wedding gown to make your destination wedding or you're jet setting to a philanthropy event try these tips to pack delicate evening wear.

• The right tote - Think of buying a dress length garment bag to comfortably tote your gown. It will protect the garment in-flight or at the hotel. 

• Never check your evening garments with other luggage. If you carry-on you'll know your garments are with you and not half-way across the world.

• Never leave your evening wear in a hot car for prolonged periods of time, especially if you're packing a wedding gown. It can discolor a garment and/or its beading.

• Label your luggage inside and out with a contact number in case something gets lost.

Harvard professor sketches travels instead of taking photos

TSA Travel Tips:

• Show valid government-issued ID and boarding pass.

• Take out liquids (in a baggie) and laptops.
• Take off shoes and jackets.

Keep in mind that fireworks are explosive materials and are not permitted in checked or carry-on baggage

• Families and casual travelers can use the TSA-designated Family Lanes to go through security at their own pace
• Remember the 3-1-1 Rule:
  • 3 ounce bottles or less for all liquids, gels and aerosols placed in a 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag
  •  1 bag per passenger placed separately in a security bin for X-ray screening. This liquid restriction is in place because of the known risk of liquid explosives and applies only to carry-on bags. Larger quantities may be placed in checked baggage.
