Keep your home safe while you're away

You might be so focused on getting away that you forget to secure what you have. Keep your home safe with some simple tips.


Before you go:

• If you can, leave a car in the driveway to create the appearance that someone is home
• Stop your newspaper and mail service a few days before a long vacation
• Ask a family member who lives by to check on your home once in a while -- an extra set of eyes never hurts
• Use lighting timers with staggered on/off times to create the illusion that someone is home
• Don't leave voicemail messages that alert people that you are away

Remember--travel security is key at home and abroad.
