If you're gearing up for your first cruise you're probably wondering how to pack for your voyage into the deep blue. Let's clear up some packing do's and don'ts before you set sail.
Ok, lets talk about what not to wear. If you're not traveling on the Queen Mary 2, you won't be busting out the crown jewels for the formal dinner. Most cruise ships are some what casual and relaxed. Men can wear slacks and a blazer/tie combo and ladies can don dresses on the verge of cocktail dresses (though some women go more casual).
For the ladies:
- Sundresses
- swim suit
- comfortable shoes when you explore on land
- bermuda shorts, capris, jeans--Please keep your Daisy Dukes at home
- blouses and some more casual T-shirts
- cocktail dress
- Stylish sun hat (to prevent burns and premature aging!)
The guys:
- shorts, khakis, jeans
- button down shirts, polos, T-shirts
- Blazer, tie
When packing toiletries, don't forget a hair dryer. Not all cruise ships provide them. Too many bottles. Use a toiletry kit to keep them all together (not to mention make the most of your space in your room on board).
