This is resolution week pretty much worldwide. As an avid traveler you can resolve to make your experiences more memorable and more relaxing. If you're jittery on flights or can't seem to get some shut eye, try some techniques for comfort in the air.
Before you board the plane, envision yourself having a calm flight and reaching your destination well rested and relaxed.
When you take your seat, take out some comfort items such as a travel neck pillow or some ear plugs to help you become settled. Start performing some deep breathing activities to relax your body:
- Breathe in through the nose for 2 seconds and hold for 2 seconds
- Release through the mouth for 2 seconds while dropping my shoulders as you breathe out
- Repeat this and increase the number of seconds one at a time until you are breathing in for 8 seconds, holding for 8 seconds, and releasing for 8 seconds
- By that point you should be breathing with your diaphragm ie. taking in deep breaths by filling your stomach first, holding and giving your body time to relax
